I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Mrs Mei last year October, when everyone seemed to have registered their kids somewhere.
I like that Mission San Jose Childrens Center is in line with Montessori method of teaching. And I especially love that Mrs Mei is such a loving and caring teacher! There were kids eagerly waiting in line to enter the classroom on the first day I dropped off my son. None of the kids were crying nor having a hard time saying goodbye to parents. That is how I know for sure this is the right place to go!
And thank you Mrs Mei for all your holiday gifts. We love the sunglasses and candies.
    I highly recommend this place!

We've followed Ms. Mei now for about 5 years and feel she really knows what it takes to get absolutely the most out of a child. Her and staff run a top notch teaching facility based on the Montessori curriculum. The staff is very patient, seem to spend a lot of one-on-one time with each student, provide regular feedback, and engage in activities that bring out the creative juices in a child. My son started with Ms. Mei at the Montessori down the street (5 years ago) and currently my daughter just finished up at Mission San Jose Childrens House. Id like to thank Ms. Mei and her staff for providing a solid foundation for my children in their early years!

My son has been attending Mission San Jose Children's Center for the past year. We have been extremely happy there. This was the third preschool we tried for him and definitely the best fit! He has done very well with the Montessori model and the staff is remarkable. The head teacher is amazing with the students. He has grown so much here both academically and socially. We will be sending our daughter there next year and are looking forward to it!

We had a great experience with this school. My daughter enjoyed her time there and learned all kinds of things in both academic and social side. She still misses Ms. Mei and her friends here after we moved out of the area.

I would definitely recommend this school to everyone.

We feel lucky to have been with this preschool for 3 years. Teachers were always nice and patient to my daughter no matter how hard she cried when she first came to school at the age of 2. Now my daughter has graduated. Now and then she would mention that she missed her teachers and friends there.

The class is well organized. Kids from 2 to 5 are peaceful with each other. Sometimes they work on their own, sometimes they cooperate. Behaviors are well taught. Even small kids can focus on their own work and do not disturb others. Teachers communicate well with parents when they need parents' cooperation to improve kid's behavior.

Teachers are always open to any specific request or discussion. If a request is not doable, they will let parents know the reason. The communication is easy, and teachers are responsible to kids.

Each year there will be a parent-teacher meeting. Parents will receive a long list of scored items, to learn how the kid has progressed in behavior, in practical life, in academic, etc. It exceeds my expectation.

This school is a safe, happy, enrich environment. Teachers are loving , caring and friendly. We really appreciate the teachers take care of my child so well in this school. My child is pretty successful in this program after attending for two years. He has great Montessori education experience, doing things independently, and learning how to create and write stories, likes to read books, doing math activities, and enjoy play with his friends at school. We are sending our second child this fall. We cant think any better school than this school in this area.

Some update after my last review 1.5 year ago. We have 3 kids and have been in this school for over 3 years. Really love everything about it.

My 3rd one started at MSJCC when she was 2 year old exactly. And I felt this is the best choice ever, that I should send my other kids to MSJCC as early as 2 year old.

    1. I still remember how surprise I was when I went to the preschool parent day to see my little one's progress.

It was only few weeks after she started, and I couldn't believe how much she learned and how much she could do. MSJCC follows the Montessori curriculum. I was very shocked, that my little over 2 year old could do a lot independent projects by herself. She could manage herself so well to make good choice to pick a project, do the project nicely and independent, organize the project items and put it back into the shelf, then pick the next one.

    2. Now, she is in MSJCC for almost 2 years. She has grown up and act like a small leader in the classroom.

At home, she acted like a teacher to teach us shapes, colors, counting numbers, alphabet, recognizing letters, numbers. She sang a lot songs and remembered all the words of a song. She colored pictures, draw pictures sometimes too. I know she learned all of those from MSJCC, although she is less than 4 year-old.

    3. Depends on the kids personality, strength and weakness, teacher really pay attention to help them grow as an independent, gain both school skills and personal life skills.

Such as, my little one is left handed, the teacher observed that she is a little weak to draw a straight line. So they make a plan for her to practice on this.

    4. Teachers are so nice and willing to chat with parents all the time when they are available.

I learned so much from them, from understanding better of my kids, to getting advice on how to raise and encourage them to be a better individual. Although my two oldest are already graduated from MSJCC, teachers are still remember their personalities and give me good advice when I face challenges.

    5. Classroom and backyard are expanded, which is very nice. Kids get bigger spaces now.

    6. Healthy lunch is provided, which is great for busy working parents.

    7. Last, a minor thing that really touched me every time when I drop off my kid.

Every morning, once I just entered from the door, I heard the teacher is already standing there and say 'Hi, good morning xxx' to her, asked her to put her bag into her cubby, and say 'Bye to Mommy', say 'Have a good day, Mommy'. I know most school does this, but the detail, the friendliness I got here, the manner that kids practice every morning, really cheer up my day.

From all the experience I had with MSJCC and other preschools, I really wish I started all my 3 kids at age-2 at MSJCC.

My kid has been in MSJCC for some years. so far, we are satisfied with this program mainly due to the following reasons:

1 Kids behave well and get well with each other
    2 Environment is clean
    3 Program is well balanced
Comparing to other Montessori school nearby this program has more craft, singing. lt also has Christmas and Halloween event
4 Head teacher, Ms Mei, has many years of teaching experience. She communicates in time about kid's behavior or things that can be improved
5 I am impressed that teachers come out in the morning to welcome kids everyday and teach kids say "have a good day" to parents

one cons is that assistant teachers has changed relative fast recently. I hope some good teachers can stay longer.. but I do see assistant teachers help on different projects.

Although it is a relative small program I feel my kid is thriving and happy here.

It is a small sized but lovely school. Plenty of outdoor time. Clean and safe environment. The head teacher is quite experienced in early childhood education. My kid loves her.

My son was there when he was 4 yrs old. He loves there and the teachers, especially Ms Mei. She gave safe rules. She always like to listen to childs needs and be very patient. My son left there 2 yrs but still miss Ms Mei.

Having just moved to Fremont, I was looking for a preschool for my two year old son. I came across Mission San Jose Children Center. Ms. Mei was so friendly and answered every question I had.

I love their curriculum and the fact that they also teach kids daily living activities in addition to learning. By the end of the first year, my son who was so shy was now very social and talkative, knew his colors, numbers and ABC, and was making great progress.
I can never thank Ms. Mei and her staff enough. Especially Ms. Kendra and Ms. Soulie. Sadly our family had to move to another city and leave MSJCC.

MSJCC was a blessing to my family.

I sent my kids here when I first moved to Fremont 2 years ago and it is a great preschool, with warm teachers and friendly children. This is a child centered school where kids get to select activities that interest them during part of the day, and then there is also circle time where they sing songs and learn to follow directions. Outdoor play is very important for young bodies and this place has a safe and clean outside area with play structure and seasonal outdoor activities such as water play in the summer. Lunch is provided during the school year, and it's also open during long breaks and summer for working parents.

My son has been in this school for almost 2 years. He learned a lot and made many friends, and loved the school very much. During some vacations, the school provides camps which helps a lot when both my wife and I need to work.

My family are grateful for all the staff at MSJCC. Ever since arriving at MSJCC, and especially through the help of Ms. Mei, the director, my son is happier, confident, and more cooperative in group learning and play. Ms. Mei is experienced and patient with the children and knows how to create an atmosphere of harmony. Every morning, soft music plays as the children settle and begin their work periods. Children model naturally formed social etiquette so the younger ones, including my son, can learn from. MSJCC also emphasizes personal hygiene and dignity of the person at a young age; each child is encouraged to brush teeth after lunch before they take their naps, and to practice buttoning own shirts, putting on shoes, or cleaning up after themselves, etc. I am touched that my son can demonstrate control over his own physical needs at such a young age. Besides harmony, good relationship, Montessori practical life materials and personal well-being, Ms. Mei has very creative and artistic ideas for the children. I am genuinely surprised at the carefully wrapped art work and projects (such as a toy sewed up by my own son) my son brings home. My son has learned much fine motor skills here that will surely prepare him for more rigorous Montessori academic work. The large, beautiful artificial turf in the back yard is my son's favorite too, where he can be seen playing hide and seek with older kids, a beautiful and truly harmonious picture. I recommend this place without reservation.

I googled for preschools in my area and got the "Mission SanJose children's center" in the list. My daughter going to this school from 6 months and we see lot of improvement in her academic and social skills. My wife and I are so happy about this school. At first we were skeptical to send our daughter to this school but we are very happy with her improvement day by day. Teachers are so friendly with kids and parents too. The curriculum is also good. Along with the academic and social skills they teach kids daily activities. Even in the weekends also my daughter asks for school. Teachers do something for very occasion. They make kids to do hand crafts for the occasion. Even my daughter is eating well after going to this school. I definitely recommend this school for the parents who are looking for preschool in Fremont, CA.

I like the fact that MSCJJ teaches my kids a variety of skills from singing Chinese songs, reading them Diwali story, and doing map crafts to help them understand the globe. Not to mention the essential daily habits such as brushing teeth, correctly wiping/flushing after using toilet, etc.

The only thing that I hope can be added on is some meat or more protein for lunch as it's currently served as vegetarian. But it's better than none, right?!

MSJCC is an excellent Montessori school for kids. My son went this school for last 2 and half year. I can see clear transformation in him. Best part is Miss Mei and her staff focus on basic etiquette and all around development. It helps us lot as parents. I would highly recommend.

My first impression of this preschool is clean and tidy. It is a big classroom, but organized very well. So many education toys for kids to learn and a big playground for kids to play. Mrs. Mei treated our daughter very well. My daughter learned many songs and math concept from her. We are very happy to see my daughter grow at MSJCC.

We were worried about our sons social skills, thats why we sent him to school at an early age. Before we found MSJCC, weve tried other preschools. One is also Montessori, but we didnt see much improvement in him and the teachers were not giving enough feedbacks. The other one has a large scale regarding the campus and number of students, and is more academic-oriented. However, through the communications with the teachers, we can tell that the teachers there only want good students. They indicated that our son is not quite behaved because he loves to explore around and wouldnt sit still and stay focused. I mean, by that time he just turned 2, curiosity is his nature.

Last year, we decided to send our 2.5 year old kid to Mission San Jose Childrens Center. We love everything about the school and its definitely one of the best decisions weve ever made. The teachers are more than responsible. Ms Mei gives us feedbacks every day. She also found out that our son had a rather late development in social & language skills, and had a short attention span. Instead of judging our son, she gave us a lot of advice on his development, and meanwhile appreciated the potentials in him. Other teachers are nice too, and my son likes his teachers! They truly know the concept of Montessori, embracing kids with different personalities and helping them grow in accordance with their aptitude.

My son is now 3. It has been half a year since he started in MSJCC. Its not a very long time but we are so surprised about how big progress he has made! Including but not limited to his language development, good daily schedule, social skills, ability to keep focused, etc.

I got hooked up to this place the first time I visited. Unlike other Montessori places I visited, all the children were very friendly and outspoken. Both my sons went to this place for their preschool. My second son just graduated today. Ms. Mei is super professional and loving. They not only flourish academically, but also built very good characters and manner. My second son was strong willed and I was so concerned that he would suffer a lot beginning school. Ms. Mei hugged him a lot at lunch, during activity, etc, during his first months to give him the sense of safety that he needed. She really cared so much. She also made a lot of very good recommendations to us as the boys grew. One example of her sense of love is she understand each child has their own schedule, and observes them very carefully to understand their readiness for potty training and napping. She trained my kids when they are ready, and the process went so fast and smooth. This is truly a place that both my boys and I will miss for a long time.

I like MSJCC because Miss Mei and the other two teachers teach our kids daily but essential skills, such as rolling sleeves before washing hands, cleaning up after they finished their snacks, and brushing teeth every day after lunch!

My husband also noticed that they are able to play with Lego longer without calling our attention about 1-2 months after they joined MSJCC. Miss Mei has her way of making things work, she might seem strict at the beginning, but it just take some time to get the parents to know her style and build a better communication/trust. But I am sure you will find your kids learning a wide range of skills in MSJCC!

My wife and I have sent our daughter to MSJCC for over 2 months now and absolutely love it. Our daughter receives a perfect balance of fun, making new friends, learning opportunities, and playing/communicating and sharing with others, which she tells us about every day on the way home.

When we first transitioned to MSJCC in August our daughter certainly had a hard time with drop-off initially, however Miss Mei would see us coming and hug her until we left and made sure she was ok and got her to calm down. Our daughter would only want to go to Miss Mei and it brought us a lot of comfort knowing our daughter connected with one of the teachers so much. Once we left she would stop crying and start playing with the other kids. Later on she also started bonding with all of the teacher, who are all so loving and caring.

Overall - we love MSJCC and appreciate all the work/time/attention the teachers and staff provide for our daughter and will continue sending our daughter there for the foreseeable future.

MSJCC is not just a school but a family for us. My daughter joined this pre-school at age 3. Founder, Ms Mei, of this school is very focused and hardworking. She brings a huge experience of Child care nationally and internationally. Since she loves kid she will make sure to hug every kid before they leave for the day. She and her staff is very approachable so you can discuss any concerns related to your child with them and they will recommend you different strategies until issue is completely resolved.

Ms Mei, is also very passionate about her teaching methods. She will turn every stone to make sure her kids are getting best-in-class resources to learn different social skills.

We really like MSJ CC. A few great things about the place (too many to name):
    - 3 teachers currently here and the student population is very diverse, encompassing all cultures / geographies.
    - Ms Mei (head teacher) has both AMI Preschool and Elementary Montessori credentials (for those who care), a background in child psychology and is very experienced. Not a disciplinarian as opposed to the traditional reward & punish approach.
    - The inside of the school is large, very well organized, clean and the backyard is huge and very well maintained.
    - True Montessori mix aged setup and teaching, where older kids intermingles with the younger kids, so that the older kids learn how to teach the younger ones, while the younger kids learn from the older kids.
    - Since it's true Montessori, every kid does their own job / task, so there's no kids running around in the classroom, no crying, no yelling, an extremely organized setup and well behaved children. You'll be impressed.
    - Kids here do not get sick! Super amazed by this as my 2yr old son has maybe only gotten sick once over the last yr.
    - Kids really enjoy each other, hugging each other when they leave and are very gentle towards each other.
    - Lunch is included, so all we bring is my 2yr old's water bottle each day.

My son has been in this school for almost 2 years. He learned a lot and made many friends, and loved the school very much. During some vacations, the school provides camps which helps a lot when both my wife and I need to work.

My 4 year old twins have been coming here for nearly 2 years now and it is a great preschool. The school is clean and safe, teachers are patient and caring, there are seasonal events such as Santa visiting for Christmas and water play outside in the summer. When I go to pick them up in the afternoon, I see them playing outside having fun with the other children and give hugs to their friends before leaving. The twins sing songs learned at school on the car ride home. I also like the school's emphasis on teaching the child to be more independent and to clean up after themselves. My twins are much better about putting away toys and clothes at home now. MSJCC follows the FUSD school year calendar, plus there are camps during long breaks and over the summer for those working parents. Lunch is provided during the school year but you'll have to pack them over the summer.

I have such fond memories of my children's time at MSJCC. I sent my two kids there starting from when they were 2 years told to when they went to public school. So I have known the directress, Ms. Mei, for at least 5 years. She is wonderful. She is thoughtful and conscientious and has really high standards for her teachers. I am so impressed with how much my children learned under her supervision, from academics, to practical life skills, to being good citizens. She taught them good habits. Both my kids knew how to read long Dr. Seuss books by the time they graduated from MSJCC and went to kindergarten. She fostered a great community, and even though my kids have both graduated from MSJCC, they still play with the kids they met there, and a group of us have moved on to enroll our children in the same after school classes, sports, enrichment classes, all because of this lovely center called MSJCC. I am forever grateful to Ms. Mei for how much she cared about every detail of our children's experience with her, how she fostered friendship, how she put so much effort into arranging special events such as the Halloween party, the Christmas concert, and the Easter egg hunt, all for our childrens' benefit. Ms. Mei also worked with me when my kids needed extra attention or care. She is a working mother also, and I could tell she understood where I was coming from and tried to accommodate my needs whenever possible. Thank you Ms. Mei and MSJCC.

I can't say enough good things about this school! I toured many schools around Fremont and Milpitas, but this was the best out of all of them. Our daughter started in the class right after she turned 2. I was nervous about her transition into school after being at home, but the teachers and director could not have been more welcoming and supportive of all of us. My daughter is thriving there, and it's been such a pleasure to watch her independence and confidence grow by the day. The children are so respected by everyone there, and really given the space to learn and explore their environment at their own pace. Every single teacher I've observed has been loving and wonderful with the kids; the classroom and outdoor spaces are intentional, calm, and lovely; and the overall school community is wonderful, supportive, and diverse. We feel so lucky to have found Mission San Jose Childrens Center, and highly recommend it to all parents!

My oldest son (almost 5) has been at Mission San Jose Children's Center for three years, and now my youngest (2.5) is enrolled.

As a former kindergarten teacher, I had very strict standards for preschool. I wanted my boys to not only be safe, happy, and feel good about leaving them, I also sought an environment that was going to encourage social, emotional, and cognitive learning.

Mission San Jose Children's Center is special. The teachers are excellent. They are passionate, kind, and caring. We feel like my sons are truly loved by their teachers. That alone is priceless! Besides that, we found the teachers highly skilled not only in education but in child development and parent learning.

In keeping with Montessori tradition, the 2-5 year olds are in the same mixed-age class. I have seen how well this works at Mission San Jose Children's Center. My 5 year old is so proud of himself when he can help teach one of the younger kids. This is a great way for him to reinforce what he already knows and to take on the mantle of "role model." The director, Ms. Mei, emphasized to the older students that it was their responsibility to set a good example for the younger children and I have been so proud to see how the big kids have risen to that challenge. My younger son loves getting to go to school with his big brother and getting to play with big kids who treat him with kindness and respect.

This year I'm seeing so many of the benefits of a Montessori education coming to fruition in my children. I see that their fine motor skills are being developed by all kinds of exercises. I love that their work in Practical Life has taught them to be independent. I also like the emphasis on "Grace and Courtesy". It's funny that we just expect that kids will learn good manners more or less by following social cues, but it often helps to have a more direct lesson!

I leave my boys there every day thinking how lucky they are to be in such a lovely place.

This school has a very warm atmosphere. The children were all working on their lessons and were very happy. The staff is very loving and supportive of the children as they learn. I was surprised to see how many 4 year old children could read!

Our experience has continued to warrant every positive you can imagine about this schoolI have no doubt that our family will be grateful to Mr. Mei and the Mission San Jose Children's Center for the rest of our lives. Our 3 year old has attended since September. She not only has fun and is happy to go everyday, she has mastered a multitude of knowledge and skills and is as challenged on a given day as she chooses to be. Montessori may not be for every kid, but if is is, you will not find a higher quality, better rounded, safe, fun, stimulating and caring environment than this place. The environment is small enough that each child gets the full compliment of attention from the amazing directress Mrs. Mei and the teacher student ratio is very low. Even the other kids and parents are friendly, engaging, and inclusive. Can't even express how lucky we feel and happy we are to be part of this school and parent community.

After researching all the different preschools in this area, I am so happy with my decision. The head directress and her small and dedicated team of teachers are caring and willing to work with all students. For my very talkative child, they help him focus and let him grow at his own pace. It is a small school so that they can do projects often. My child has taken part on molding/sculpting different animals, making plenty of wind mobile type decorations, cooking, as well as the academic side to the Montessori curriculum. I am extremely pleased with my child's progress.

We moved to Fremont from San Leandro and looked for a good preschool for our 3 year old. After alot of researches, we found Mission San Jose Children's House.

My daughter loves this school especially circle time, she always sings at home and really learns alot from the school. She goes 5 days a week, 8am to 3pm.

I love this school too. Although it's a small school, but teachers can pay more attentions to the kids. Ms. Mei and 2 teachers do excellent work in taking care of the kids, read to the kids, daily activities, etc.

I highly recommend Mission San Jose Children's House for anyone who is searching for a school in Fremont area!

I'm sorry that the one star reviewer had such a negative experience with their half-day student. Our son has been going there for over a year and our daughter has just started attending. Both are half day students, always have been. We have found the staff to be excellent! As well, the school is safe, clean, and well, organized. Ms. Mei and her staff have impeccable classroom management skills which include kind and gentle demeanors with the children.

It is my understanding that the half-day students' day is over at the lunch break and most of them are picked up as the full-day students begin their outdoor play time. We have found the staff very accommodating and asked if we could pick them up during the play time so they can continue their social interaction. I also believe that this is the head teacher's lunch break (?), which would explain why she would be inside while the children are outside (with the other teachers).

Overall, we have had a wonderful experience there. It was the 3rd preschool we tried for our son and by far, the best. Both my children are getting a great education at this Montessori school and the other families are friendly and close.

From what I understand about Montessori, all schools slightly differ. The philosophy and underlying principals are the same, but each school and teacher will add their unique elements. I'm sorry that person did not find it up to par with their Montessori in Washington, but again, they are all unique. As a public school teacher myself, I get many students coming from Montessori and each has a very different experience.

My son has been to a lot of preschools because we have moved around so much and there's one thing I want to emphasize: it's not really about the preschool, but more about the right fit with your child. One school might be a right fit for others but may not be right fit for your child. And another school might not be a right fit for others but might be perfect for your child. My son happens to love this preschool.

    We like this school because:
It's extremely well organized and clean.
It has a well-rounded Montessori style curriculum.
It offers some international exposure with different language learning.
It has an outdoor play area.
They teach children life skills and how to be more organized (I found my son putting away toys more at home after attending)

I recommend doing either a morning session and add on an additional hour so that you can pick up after the kids second outdoor playtime or doing a full day session with the pick up at 3:30. My son wanted to attend the second outdoor play session after lunch.

Overall we are extremely satisfied with the school.

I hope some good teachers can stay longer.. but to comment one previous review, I do see assistant teachers help on different projects.

Although it is a relative small program I feel my kid is thriving and happy here.

I was very shocked, that my little over 2 year old could do a lot independent projects by herself. She could manage herself so well to make good choice to pick a project, do the project nicely and independent, organize the project items and put it back into the shelf, then pick the next one.

MSJCC follows the Montessori curriculum. I did not care about the philosophy previously, as my kids grew, I started to realize the philosophy actually will help them in lifetime: being independent, make choice, self-management. They do also have group activities, team work, so they don't always do project by themselves. As kids get older in the class, it will develop their leadership naturally.

Although my two oldest are already graduated from MSJCC, teachers still remember them and give me good advice when I face challenges.

I know some school do this, but the detail, the friendliness I got here, the manner that kids practice every morning, really cheer up my day.

From all the experience I had with MSJCC and other preschools, I really wish I started all my 3 kids at age-2 at MSJCC.

We can’t think any better school than this school in this area.

It is a small sized but lovely school. Plenty of outdoor time. Clean and safe environment. The head teacher is quite experienced in early childhood education. My kid loves her.
